Porsche Design Watches

Porsche Design Watches

In the fascinating world of products it is possible one product is inspired by another. Cars have contributed to the design of certain watches. Porsche design watches have the automobile flavor around them.  F.A. Porsche, in 1972, founded a design company which produced topnotch sunglasses, watches and fashion accessories. The automobile signature in the watch design is not an accident. The founder was the grandson of the maker of the legendary Porsche car, a byword in the automobile world for quality and elegance.

Porsche is a novice in the enchanting world of luxury watches as the first Porsche watches were launched only in 1973 and were meant to be sold through the retail outlets of Porsche car dealers. The targeted niche was the Porsche drivers. They were chronograph watches that kept time as well as served as stop watches. The popularity of these watches spread and the demand forced for the opening up of other supply outlets. Today the watches enjoy unique popularity and are the ultimate symbol of taste, wealth and luxury.

As can be guessed the brand evokes the car theme. The Porsche watches, the brain child of a designer from a legendary automobile house, evoke in design and name automobile parts. There is an array of Porsche watch designs. The materials used are stainless steel, titanium or eighteen carat gold. One can expect price tags ranging from $3000 to $200000, making them the rare trophies for the fabulously rich. The names like Indicator and the Dashboard creates through auditory effect the visuals of familiar parts of the cars. The model, Flat Six resembles the speedometer in a Porsche car. The design of the Indicator capturing the odometer of the car is unique for its excellence. The Dashboard’s design artistically mimics the various gauges on the dashboard. The model PTC 911 which comes in bright yellow triggers the memory for the cars in those colors. The Porsche watches are a tribute to the designer for the successful evocation of the visual effects of the car at the sight of the watch.

Though the Porsche watches were created with the Porsche drivers in mind, its fame soon spread and other people also started buying these watches. It is likely that if you own a Porsche car you can as well own a Porsche watch. However, only a limited percentage of people in the world can really own a real Porsche design watch.  Certainly it is for the rich who can spare money for the luxurious things in life.
